Maurice Jones-Drew still getting better

maurice_jones_drew_blog

Maurice Jones-Drew is a physical specimen on the football field. If you take a look at this guys career and his 2010 season to date – he is just getting better and better. Back in 2007 when Jones-Drew came into the NFL, he rushed 167 times for 768 yards and 9 touchdowns. His 2nd season he got 30 more carries at 197 and went for 824 yards with 12 touchdowns. In 2009, through 3 weeks, Maurice Jones-Drew has 57 carries for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns. If you project this out across 16 weeks (lets say 15 weeks just in case he misses a week) he is looking at 285 carries, 1400+ yards and 20 touchdowns. Now I know these numbers are probably a little steep. But think about it. In the past couple years Maurice Jones-Drew has split carries with Fred Taylor. Taylor is now gone from Jacksonville leaving the entire load to Maurice Jones Drew. I think 15+ touchdowns and close to 2000 yards is NOT out of the question. But as I’ve shown – one thing is clear – Maurice Jones Drew is clearly getting better and better as the games go on. What do you think?

Jaguars pick up great win at Houston

Going into yesterdays game at the Houston Texans, it was clear that Jones-Drew SHOULD have a good game. The Texans were the worst run defense in the league. But as we all know, sometimes things don’t pan out the way they should. As for the Jaguars and MJD, they did! Maurice Jones-Drew ended with 119 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. IMPRESSIVE. Better yet, the Jaguars defeated the Texans, on the road, 31-24. What a great win and the first win on the young season for the Jaguars.

“Each play we got better,” Jones-Drew said. “Each time we got to the sideline we got better. We just kept believing in each other and that was the best thing about it … they jumped out on us real quick. We just kept fighting back, fighting back. No one blinked.”

The Jags struggled a bit to stop Matt Schaub and the Houston passing attack. But they forced a fumble down the stretch when it really mattered and marched on to the victory! The Jaguars play home vs. the Titans in week 4.
